Who this is for
Most people I work with are in one of two situations. Either there is no website at all, and customers find nothing but a phone number on a directory site somebody else owns. Or there is a site in a system bought years ago, which now costs a monthly fee, looks its age, and needs a support ticket every time an opening hour changes.
Both are fixable. What usually stops people is not the technology but that nobody has given them a straight answer about what it involves, what it costs, and what happens to the email.
How I work
Websites and email almost always sit with different providers. Switch name servers without copying every record first and mail can stop arriving – without the website showing any sign of it. I compare the new zone record by record against the old one before anything is switched. Most agencies will not touch this part at all.
The pages are finished files. There is no WordPress to update, no plugins that stop working after an upgrade, and no login that can be taken over. Pages load instantly even on poor mobile coverage, and hosting costs nothing at this size.
The domain is registered in your name, with your registrar. The source code sits in your own repository. If you want to move to somebody else you take all of it with you without asking me. There is no lock-in, because that is not where I intend to make money.
Project
Formal menswear on Odengatan, family-owned since 1932. Tailcoats, dinner suits and uniforms. They were in a CMS they had outgrown and wanted something they could rely on.
I rebuilt the site from scratch in Swedish and English, moved two domains and migrated DNS to Cloudflare. The email stayed with its provider and worked throughout the move.
Along the way I found three faults nobody knew about. The map was 274 metres off, so customers ended up on the wrong block. And under the heading ”Tailcoat – from SEK 8,998” sat a photo of an ordinary blazer. That is the kind of thing I go looking for.
